Form 2A/2B - Preliminary Enquiries - Sensitive Activities & Subdivision

FORM 2A

Preliminary comments on a ‘sensitive building’ 

  • New or extension to existing ‘Sensitive Building’ within 50m of a National Grid Transmission Line/s or support structure.
  • Have concept drawings of the proposal.
  • Seek comments/confirmation that the proposal meets Transpower’s requirements 

FORM 2B

Preliminary comments on a subdivision 

  • Boundary adjustment or subdivision without major physical works. 
  • Have a subdivision/concept plan.
  • Do not propose building areas or platforms within 50m of the lines, substation, etc. 

Form 3A/3B - Highly Resolved Proposals - Sensitive Activities & Subdivision

FORM 3A

Comments/Affected Party Approval for highly resolved proposals. 

  • Detailed and highly resolved proposals. Include plans and necessary specifications for Transpower to assess. 
  • Affected Party Approval for a resource consent

FORM 3B

Comments and/or Affected Party Approval for a subdivision

  • Are proposing a subdivision, and have a highly resolved proposal for review.
  • Have a final subdivision/scheme plans.
  • Seek comments or Affected Party Approval.

Form 4 - Matters not covered by the forms above.

FORM 4

Use this for if you require comments on a land use proposal not covered in the other Forms.

Form 5 - Submit a Management Plan

Use this for to have Transpower review construction, electrical infrastructure, quarry, etc. type of management plans.

Before you complete an enquiry form...

Please ensure the transmission lines or structures affecting your site are Transpower National Grid assets. You can check the property HERE.

Please ensure you have the correct documents attached. These documents will need to be in PDF format. Required documents are listed at the beginning of each form, which generally include:

  • A site plan and elevations (to scale) of your proposed building or subdivision.
  • Details of any existing Transpower easements or consent notices attached to the Record of Title.
  • Consideration of the New Zealand Electrical Code of Practice for Electrical Safe Distances (NZECP 34:2001) requirements.

Transpower can assess NZECP 34 compliance, but to the best of your abilities and information available, please assess and explain how you believe the proposed activity will comply.

Processing timeframes

Whilst we strive to respond to enquiries as soon as possible, response times will depend on the type and complexity of enquiry you are submitting and the overall volume of enquiries being processed. Approximate timeframes are listed below:

Form 2A and 2B Approximately 15-25 working days
Form 3A and 3B Approximately 15-35 working days
Form 4 Approximately 15-25 working days
Form 5 Usually within a few days.

Please note that Pātai is not monitored outside of normal business hours, on Public Holidays, or during the Christmas holiday period (20th December to 10th January in the following year).
